My new Panasonic CX160 HD HandyCam. The more I use it, the more I am nurturing it.
It is very practical to use with the best size for my medium-sized hand, and the contact & history control buttons quickly placed on the digicam body as well as on the touchscreen technology. The touchscreen technology is decent. I would suggest using a the begining shield which makes it much simpler to clear since it is susceptible to kids finger marks. The touchscreen technology program is very user-friendly (one cant go incorrect with the program with Sony) and requires only couple of minutes to get used to. I began firing right after unboxing it. Returning to the most important factor - the image. The image of the movie clips is definitely gorgeous. Even under low light (indoors), the image is quite excellent when taken at FX setting. I usually desire FX setting (60i) which is actually the second best setting with regards to image understanding but gives you that extra firing time with minimal image deterioration as when in comparison to PS setting (60p @ 28Mbps). PS setting is as close to an experienced digicam that an under $500 digicam can get.
With a designed in 16Gb storage one can photograph about 90 minutes of HD movie clips in FX setting. I got a Surpass 16Gb category 10 for little less than 30 dollars to make the complete to 3 hrs of movie clips at one go, which imho is quite a respectable amount of movie. The energy supply (Sony NP-FV50 V series) that came with it has a again up of little over 2 time with a mix of history and play again periods. I am very delighted with these periods though. For again up I did buy a NP FV 70 alternative (Vivitar brand); however, it did not function well and I used to get one concept after about 4 minutes. I went back it and purchased another Panasonic NP FV 50. I would suggest purchasing another Panasonic NP FV 50 energy supply only if you ever need a again up energy (NOT EVEN origniaL Panasonic NP FV 70).
The audio documenting excellent is also decent. With about 3 time of files so far, although I haven’t really discovered the audio files in too much details, I can say that the audio is just ideal. We have experienced the image as well as audio excellent of all the movie clips that we had taken with it.
The small (about 5-7 cms only) USB is set on the digicam body. I find this function quite awesome since you do not need to consider to have the USB wire as such (of course, the extendable wire definitely helps), as also it is kind of invisible in the digicam band so its not noticeable and does not cause an drawback while documenting.
Coming to the still images, I would say I was a quite dissatisfied with it in that the images are essentially ineffective. Due to this I have incapable the vehicle look shutter which requires images instantly when it picks up a look, even when the movie documenting is in success. The function is excellent, but the images are not.
The application that came with it - Panasonic PMB - is a just about okay kind of software; in that it does what it is used to do - handle and get rid of DVDs. You can make DVSs very easily with it. However, the number of display styles is very restricted (only about 5 to be precise), and it does need a excellent running energy. However, with HD movie clips, a excellent running energy is anyways a must.
I would have given it a 4.5, but it certainly doesn’t are entitled to a 4; So, I offered it a full 5. If you neglect the still image, imho is not what it is recommended for, the other functions such as golfing taken, slow-mo taken, one touching concentrate in which the digicam concentrate on an item you touching in the lcd display and keeps in concentrate all through the firing by following it, the more than excellent energy supply again up, you won’t be dissatisfied with this one. I got my own from Costco for $490 dollars with taxation, comprehensive of a excellent body enough to have its USB extendable wire, an additional energy supply, along with the digicam, of course.
5/23 Bring up to date on extra battery: Ordered a ‘High Voltage’ company NP-FV 70 energy supply from Digi Acc home owner. I am delighted that it proved helpful with my Panasonic CX-160. At first, I was dissatisfied since even the Unique Panasonic NP FV 50 did not function with it and I used to get one concept after every 3-4 minutes. Digi Acc was quick to deliver me a energy supply that proved helpful. I love this product overall it’s one of the best video cameras i’ve ever owned
